SEALY, TX (KTRK) -- Sealy police need your help catching the suspect who placed a skimmer on a bank ATM.

Police say a customer went to use the ATM at a bank in the 200 block of Main Street and the card reader fell apart in their hands, revealing the skimmer.

"I kind of touched it a little bit.. shook it, and it just came off," said Armando Torres. "Low and behold, it was fake and it had a bunch of wires sticking out and a chip."

Torres called police. Investigators reviewed surveillance video from the ATM camera and came across footage showing the suspect installing the skimming device early Sunday morning. Detectives think about 25 people had already used the ATM before the device was discovered.

"The device was capturing all of the personal information and transmitting it to another location," said Sealy Police Chief Chris Nobles.

Nobles said the suspect may be a part of a Romanian crime ring that's skimming credit card info and selling it overseas. Now they're hoping photos from the surveillance camera will help them catch the suspect.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to contact the Sealy Police Department at 979-885-2913.
