HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Criminals trying to steal from the Riderz Garage in north Houston are lucky they weren't killed after shots were fired.

Reggie Moore is in his fourth year of business at the Riderz Garage, located at Blue Bell Road and Airline. He says something didn't feel right about a man who came to visit the garage Friday.

"His body language from the time I seen him. I just did not feel right about him," Moore said.

Surveillance video shows the suspected thief getting out of his car and walking into Moore's bike garage.

"I told my guys to keep their eyes on him," Moore added.

Video continued to show the thief, wearing an Atlanta baseball cap and a light-colored shirt, looking into drawers. Inside of one of the drawers, he found the safety box and tried to get away.

"I met him at the front door with the box. He dropped the box and took off running," Moore said.

He says he went for his shotgun and started shooting at the suspect.

"The sad part about it is, that cashbox had absolutely no money in it. He could've essentially lost his life for nothing," he added.
