2 birds rescued from burning home in west Houston
Firefighters rescued a family's two feathered friends after their home went up in flames.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Firefighters pulled two birds from a burning home in west Houston.

This happened a little before 10pm Saturday at a home on Briarstem Drive near Piping Rock Lane.

Flames were shooting through the roof when firefighters pulled up.

The family had escaped, but had to leave a parrot and another bird inside.

Firefighters pulled the birds out just in time.

The home, though, was badly damaged. Arson investigators are working to identify what started the fire.
