Five-year-old leukemia patient surprises nurse with "proposal"

SAN DIEGO, CA (KTRK) -- A 5-year-old battling Leukemia had a special surprise for his favorite nurse at Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego.

Gideon Robinson has grown close to his nurse, Sarah, and wanted to show his appreciation towards her. He's going through chemotherapy treatments for acute lymphoblastic leukemia.

"I bent my knee down, and then I pulled the ring out, put on her finger, and then it was over," he said.

Gideon's mom caught the entire proposal on camera. She says he probably got the idea of getting on his knees to ask for marriage from television.

The staff at the hospital tries to make the environment as fun as possible.

"Of course you can be my hospital husband! Aw, thank you!" nurse Sarah said.
