JASPER, GA (KTRK) -- A Georgia high school's fundraiser is creating a lot of controversy due to the prize being offered to the winner.

The wrestling team at Pickens County High School is raffling off a Glock 43 single-stack, 9 millimeter pistol.

"I don't think it's a good idea for a high school to be selling chances for a gun," resident Sharon Mualkey said.

Pickens County School District released the following statement:

"The "Pickens Wrestling Raffle Fundraiser" referenced on the attached ticket is a fundraiser being conducted by the booster club associated with the Pickens County High School's Wrestling Team. The Pickens County School District is not conducting this fundraiser, and the District has no supervisory role, control, or authority with regards to the booster club."

The team has since deleted a tweet referencing the gun raffle.
