Smash and grab thieves were caught on camera ramming a truck into a store in southwest Houston

The burglary happened at the Quik Food Store in the 5400 block of Birdwood at Braesmont.

At 3am, a lone figure covering his face walked up to the front of the store and then disappeared into the night. A moment later, a white pickup truck comes into view in the video, and then backs right through the front of the building. The collision knocked out one camera, but another camera inside the store picked up the action from there.

The robbers slammed the truck into the store once more before the security bars finally give way.

The truck pulled out the store, clearing the way for three men who walk in, grab the ATM and then drive off into the darkness.

The entire act took less than 60 seconds.

The owner, citing police, says the truck seen backing into his store was stolen.

The corner store is a mainstay in the community.

The smash and grab robbery left debris everywhere.

Customer Dan Webber said, "It's just an outrage, I don't know what to say, it's shocking."

The store that's served the area for decades is now severely damaged.

Webber said, "I come here practically everyday my wife and I have been doing so over 16 years and these people are part of the community here."

Customers say violent acts like this are becoming more common in this neighborhood.

Customer Babak Nikpuor said, "In the last six months, I have seen a lot of the crime in this area."
