HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An 11-year-old girl was killed Saturday night in a hit-and-run accident in southwest Houston.

Houston police responded to the accident scene at Southwest Freeway and Westpark Drive, just after 6pm.

Investigators say the pickup truck was crossing the intersection, driving northbound on the service road of the SW Freeway when a red vehicle clipped the truck. The truck slammed into a concrete column. The driver of the red vehicle made no effort to stop and kept going.

Everyone in the truck, expect the front passenger were taken to the hospital, according to authorities. Two adult males were inside the truck along with five children.

The front passenger was able to give police a statement.

Police are searching for the driver of the red car, possibly a Chevrolet Cobalt or Cavalier. The car may have damage to the left front panel and bumper area.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Houston Police Department.
