The mother of a teenager who was killed while in the back of a car is speaking out with Eyewitness News exclusively.

Fifteen-year-old Victoria Cantu was with friends, near Airtex and the North Freeway on January 4.

There was a confrontation with a group of men when someone shot Victoria, killing her. The suspects took off. Her killer is still at large.

Victoria Cantu's mom, Nicole Keddie, tells Eyewitness News her daughter was a typical teen and happened to be out with the wrong crowd two weeks ago.

Keddie said, "She wasn't a bad child by any means. She did run off on occasion and just happened to make a wrong choice and go with these two guys."

Investigators say Victoria was riding in the back of a car during that confrontation. Surveillance pictures show the shooter hanging out of this silver Chevrolet Malibu, possibly a 2013 or 2014 with possible black paint damage to the bumper.

Keddie said, "An innocent 15-year-old girl's life who just happened to be sitting in the back seat -- if they so recklessly had disregard for somebody else's life for something so petty as what happened to my daughter, we need to catch these guys get them off the streets."

Keddie added, "If anything comes out of this, hopefully other teenagers will see just how very easy it is to make one wrong choice, and end up paying the ultimate price, and paying with your life."

If you know anything, call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. A $5,000 reward is offered in the case and Keddie says she's adding a $1,000 reward to that total.
