What to do before you hire a virtual trainer
Virtual trainers can be a great resource if you hire the right one.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- So you think you can't afford to hire a personal trainer?

Well, you just might be able to hire one--- that is a virtual trainer.

It's the latest trend in fitness and it's popular because it's affordable and convenient all while holding clients' accountable.

Virtual personal trainers like Kathy Laucius can use tools like Skype and Facetime to meet with clients and work on their health and fitness goals.

Trainers set up weigh-ins, meal plans, go over workouts and show their clients how to use proper form when exercising.

Kathy charges a first-time fee of $169 for the first month and $99 a month after that.

Before you hire a virtual personal trainer, be sure to research their business, find out if any contracts are involved and exactly what the "virtual" personal training gets you.
