$1.5B Powerball drawing has Houston talking, dreaming
Tonight, someone in Houston could be a near billionaire if they win the Powerball jackpot.

ROSENBERG, TX (KTRK) -- The Powerball jackpot keeps growing.

Tonight's drawing is for a world-record pot of $1.5 billion, and it could be close to $2 billion before the end of the day.

A lump sum payment of $930 million is at stake, and because of that, many are flocking to Lucky Rudy's in Rosenberg.

The Texas Lottery says demand for tickets is off the charts, with more than $3.4 million worth of Powerball tickets sold on Tuesday between 6pm and 7pm. That's more than $41,000 worth of tickets per minute for one hour.

The demand is expected to increase leading up to tonight's drawing.

A line stretched around the Lucky Rudy's store yesterday, with people coming near and far for the chance to buy a ticket at the store that claims to have the most winning tickets in the state.

One woman came all the way from Katy because she heard it was a "very lucky" place.

Lucky Rudy's has had quite a few million dollar winners, but those were on scratchoffs. Still, you never know where luck will rub off from.
