Deputies: 1 dead in fatal shooting over woman's debt

HARRIS COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- A man was shot and killed after deputies say a debt collection turned violent in northeast Harris County.

The shooting happened after 10pm at the Haverstock Hill Apartments at Aldine Bender Road and Lee Road.

Harris County Sheriff's deputies responded and found a man dead inside the apartment.

A woman who lived in the apartment told deputies she owed someone a debt, and when two men showed up to collect the money owed, a fight broke out.

She says she ran from the apartment to call 911, but when she returned, she found her friend had been shot and the two men had fled the apartment.

There is no word yet on what kind of debt she owed, or about the suspects wanted in the shooting.
