Police say two suspects led police on a chase after stealing vehicles in Liberty County.

DAYTON, TX (KTRK) -- Two suspects are on the run in far East Harris County, accused in a bizarre high speed chase that ended with shots allegedly fired at police.

Just after 8pm on New Year's Day, a Dayton police officer reported a pickup truck pulling a trailer with a 4x4 Razor on it.

There was no license plate, so the officer signaled for the driver to pull over.

The driver refused and a chase began with the driver allegedly going up to 100 miles per hour, still pulling the trailer behind him.

Officers gave up the chase after a while for safety reasons, then a state trooper saw the vehicle with the trailer still attached, driving deep in the woods of Huffman.

Dozens of officers showed up and say the suspects fired shots, then managed to escape.

Investigators recovered the stolen truck, trailer and 4x4.

Then, at 1:40pm, the same suspects allegedly stole a 2014 Yukon from a couple's garage, while they were outside.
