Suspect in slow N. Houston chase goes before judge
Police say Brett Poppenhesun was under the influence when he refused to stop for officers Thursday night in north Houston.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The man who took police on a dangerous chase on the wrong side of a busy road Thursday night spent part of his New Year's Day in court.

Police say Brett Poppenhesun was under the influence when he refused to stop for officers. And at one point, he rammed his vehicle into police cruisers to try and get away.

He was finally boxed in by police near the Eastex Freeway and Hopper, where he was taken into custody. No one was hurt.

Poppenhesun is charged with DWI and evading arrest with a weapon. Bond was set at $15,000 on those charges. He could face more.
