It's a girl! Houston's New Year baby is here!
The first baby born in the New Year at a Houston hospital arrived just as 2016 did - at the stroke of midnight!

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Welcome the first 2016 baby of Houston!

Key'Asia Adams was born at Memorial Herman Children's Hospital at midnight on the dot, New Year's Day, weighing five pounds even.

Her original due date was January 15. Mom, Kadedra Davidson, says she had a feeling her daughter would be born New Year's Day, but never dreamed she'd be the first 2016 baby born in Houston.

"I was like really, is she coming out? Is she out? And I pushed and she came out at twelve," Davidson said.

Darius Adams, the baby's father, almost missed his daughter's birth. He spent most of Thursday in the hospital by his girlfriend's side, but when things were moving slow, he decided to go to work at 7:30 that night. Two hours after he left, he got the call the baby was coming.

"Man, when she told me her water broke, what dad is going to go to work?" Adams said, laughing.

He raced back to the hospital and got there just in time. Now, he can't stop staring at his new baby girl.

"I can't wait for her first school day, I can't wait until cheerleading practice, I can't wait for ballet recitals," Adams said.

For both parents, it's their first child.

"This is my gift right here: ringing in New Year's with my baby," Davidson said.

Key'Asia is joined by more New Year babies.

At 12:19am, a six pound, 15 ounce girl arrived at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.

Twenty minutes later, another girl was born at Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital, at 12:39am.

A baby boy joined the New Year's girls a short time later, when a boy arrived at 3:25am at Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital.

A baby was born at Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital at 12:33am, but no details are publicly available at this time.

Happy Birthday to all the New Year's babies, and best wishes to all the families!
