Man who ran out of gas killed while filling his tank

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police say a man who ran out of gas in west Houston was hit and killed by a suspected DWI driver.

The crash happened around 9 Friday night on the Katy Freeway near the Barker Cypress exit.

Investigators say the man called his wife to bring him gas.

While he was filling up his tank a Chevy Tahoe crashed into him and his vehicle.

The force of the crash threw the man over his car.

He was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest where he died.

His wife was also injured in the crash but is expected to survive.

Police arrested the man in the Chevy Tahoe after he failed a field sobriety test.

No word yet on what charges he could face.
