Man killed while trying to fix his disabled vehicle along SW Fwy

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- We're following breaking news on the Southwest Freeway, where officials said a man was killed when he was struck by a passing vehicle.

This happened just before noon on Highway 59 outbound at Elgin.

The man was hit while working on his disabled vehicle on the side of the highway.

He was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital after he was struck, but has died from his injuries.

Several viewers called into the ABC13 newsroom after seeing the man lying in the roadway.

We do not know whether the driver who hit the man stopped to render aid.
