CROSBY, Texas (KTRK) -- Authorities say a woman driving a van failed to yield to a pickup truck that struck her vehicle and caused her husband in a passenger seat to be ejected on Highway 90.

The husband was pronounced dead at the scene late Wednesday night in the area of Highway 90 at Lindstrom, according to Harris County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators said the woman stopped at a blinking red light approaching the highway from Lindstrom but didn't realize motorists on the highway had blinking yellow lights. The van drove out onto the highway before being hit by a Ford F-150.

Authorities said the truck had the right of way.

The woman was rescued from the wreckage and then taken to the hospital by Life Flight. The driver in the pickup was not seriously injured.

According to HCSO, impairment was not detected from either driver.

Authorities added that the woman told them she wasn't familiar with the area or the intersection.
