HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police say a resident near Midtown was angry because a homeless man was on his property and opened fire.

According to investigators, 33-year-old Jamin Stocker shot a 56-year-old man in the leg. Police have issued a warrant for Stocker's arrest.

It is unclear if the victim was in fact homeless.

Houston police were called to the area of Rosewood and Austin streets around 10:30 p.m. Monday for a report of shots fired. The shooting actually happened about a block away at Wheeler and Caroline.

SWAT and hostage negotiators were eventually brought in to attempt to reach Stocker who police believed barricaded himself inside a home.

Once they gained access, investigators found he was not inside. Police recovered a number of weapons in the home.

Houston police say residents in the townhome community have been frustrated for some time with the nearby homeless camps.

Stocker is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers.
