Woman, 91, sets new marathon record
Harriette Thompson completed the San Diego Marathon faster than any woman her age ever had before

SAN DIEGO (KTRK) -- A 91-year-old woman in California ran her way to the record books.

Harriette Thompson ran the 26.2-mile San Diego marathon yesterday in just 7 hours, 7 minutes and 42 seconds. That is the fastest time on record for a woman over 90.

Thompson says she is not a pro and says she didn't run her first marathon until she was 76.

But Thomson wasn't the only one setting new endurance records. Young Reinhardt Harrison also entered the record books. The 10-year-old broke the world record for a half marathon for someone his age, completing the Alexandria Running Festival half marathon in Virginia at a time of 1:35:02.
