Vivian Wise, Woman of Distinction

The family permanently moved to Houston in 1996, and after graduating from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Vivian returned to the Lone Star State and came to call the Bayou City home. For years, Vivian owned and operated Velvet Slipper, a retail shoe emporium, before turning her time and attention towards philanthropy. "I was taught that everything we do has a ripple effect," she explains. Coming from a family known for its generosity and good works, paying it forward comes naturally. Since 2014, Wise has devoted her time, effort and resources to various organizations, including Bering Omega Community Services, Blue Cure Foundation, Bo's Place, Fresh Arts, Houston Community College Foundation, Stages Theatre and The Menil Foundation, to name a few.
