Sir Mix-a-Lot isn't the only one who likes big butts. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), butt implants and lifts are now the fastest-growing types of plastic surgery in the United States.
The organization published its findings in a report, which analyzed statistics from 2000 to 2015 to track trends across the $12 billion industry.
The ASPS said the top procedures related to the rear end in 2015 were: buttock augmentation with fat grafting (nearly 15,000 procedures, up 28 percent from 2014); buttock lift (almost 4,800 procedures, up 36 percent from 2014), and butt implants (more than 2,500 procedures, up 36 percent from 2014).
The 2015 statistics also revealed another trend: male patients are becoming a bigger part of a market once dominated by women.
According to the report, men are getting more plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures than ever. So what do men want? To eliminate "man-boobs." According to ASPS, men accounted for more than 40% of breast reduction surgeries performed in the United States.
"As plastic surgery is becoming more common and accepted in men, we're seeing more of them undergo procedures to tighten and tone problem areas, like the breasts," ASPS President Dr. David Song said in a news release issued by the organization.
The ASPS data also showed that more breast cancer patients are undergoing breast reconstruction. In 2015, there were more than 106,000 such procedures - 4 percent more than in 2014 and 35 percent higher than in 2000.
