Teen cancer patient performs for caregivers
Jarvis Cox is battling brain cancer for the second time

MIAMI, FL (KTRK) -- A South Florida teen had one wish - to perform a concert for his caregivers following surgery for a brain tumor. And this week, that dream wish came true.

According to WSVN in Miami, Jarvis Cox was first diagnosed with brain cancer in 2010. After treatment, he was in remission. But in 2014, doctors found his cancer had returned.

"Been through a lot of things, but that still ain't stopping me now," said Jarvis. "I'm still here today.

At Holtz Children's Hospital this week, Jarvis - who wants to be a professional singer - got to perform in front of the doctors, nurses, child life specialists and his family.

The 16-year-old says he sings his way through the good times and the bad.

"Feels like it's too much, but when you least know it, He's still got it to where that you can handle it," he said.

"He's been through a lot," his grandmother, Bernice Harris, said. "I mean, his poor body been target through all kinds of fireworks been in and out of his body. It's hard for him to eat and he went on. He went on for God to sing this song."

Besides his desire to become a professional singer, Jarvis wants to be an inspiration to other kids fighting cancer.

"Don't let this issue bother you," he said. "Don't let it seem like you can't do anything or that it's some excuse to hold you back, cause I don't use as an excuse. I just keep on moving."
