HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Think about this the next time you throw a brisket or fajitas on the grill. Those cooking methods could increase your cancer risk.

Researchers looked at the diets of 659 MD Anderson Cancer Center patients diagnosed with kidney cancer. Researchers say they found a link between meat consumption and kidney cancer risk.

Scientists say barbecuing or pan-frying meat could create carcinogens. Cooks are urged to try other cooking methods like baking or broiling.

The study comes just two weeks after an international panel of doctors warned about a possible link between processed meat like hot dogs and bacon and an increased risk of colon cancer.
