Children exposed to smoking at higher risk for heart disease

Children who live around smokers could be at a higher risk for heart disease.

A new study finds children who are exposed to smoking run the risk of developing carotid plaque as an adult was nearly two-times higher than kids in smoke-free homes. That plaque contributes to hardening arteries.

Researchers followed children in all sorts of homes for the span of 30 years. They say parents who are concerned for their kids' long-term health should consider not smoking.
