C-section Rates
Our Patricia Lopez has the details about unnecessary C-sections in Houston.

HOUSTON -- A new study finds one in every three babies born in this country, are delivered through cesarean, even when the mothers don't want it.

This is worrisome because women who get c-sections take longer to recover and it's more likely any future children will have to be delivered surgically.

Consumer Reports find that c-sections are happening when they don't need to.

So how do the hospitals in Houston compare to the rest of the country?

In the Houston area, c-section rates at large hospitals range from 14-percent to 48-percent.

The hospitals with the lowest rate are Scott and White Hospital in Brenham and St. Joseph Medical Center and Houston Northwest Medical Center in Houston.

On the other side of the spectrum, it's Houston Methodist Hospital and Woman's Hospital of Texas and Nacogdoches Medical Center.
