Alissa Maples , Woman of Distinction

She is an honors graduate of Vanderbilt University with a degree in Human Development, and she pursued a journalism career writing for the Houston Chronicle and later as the Fashion Editor for Houston's 002 Magazine. She was blessed to marry her sweetheart Kevin Maples 20 years ago and is the devoted mother of Anabelle (16) and Holden (13). She has been honored to serve on the board and have leadership roles at Casa de Esperanza, Heroes for Children, Dress for Success, Children at Risk, American Heart Association, Bo's Place, March of Dimes, Miss Wheelchair, Family Services, The Saint Francis Woolrich Fund Board and the National Kidney Foundation. She has found her passion to serve others for over 20 years by watching her mother, Virginia Steppe's dedication to helping people in need. Her most important and satisfying role is that of wife and mother.
