France bans catcalling after man punches woman
Catcalling is now banned in France.

FRANCE (KTRK) -- Cat calling is now a crime in France.

Starting in September, fines will be enforced for gender-based harassment on the streets and public transportation.

The ban was sparked after surveillance video surfaced of a man hitting a woman when she confronted him about making vulgar sounds at her.

The cost of the fines will start at $104 and could reach up to $17,000.
