Food drive for those affected with HIV, AIDS
A Montrose area restaurant held the event

MONTROSE, TX (KTRK) -- AIDS Foundation Houston, volunteers, and a local restaurant are hoping your generosity can help people affected by HIV and AIDS.

The foundation and Riva's Restaurant held a food drive today in the Montrose area. The goal is to collect food for people with HIV or AIDS and their families. The event is called the Stone Soup Revival.

"If you can't do it today we're gonna be collecting for the next two weeks. There's a lot of people that they are poor. They're hungry. Hunger is a problem. It's not just people that are infected with aids, we have this problem all over," said Riva's Restaurant owner, Michael Sibouyeh.

These are some of the items needed most:

Proteins: Tuna, Chili, Beef Stew, Canned chicken, Spam.

Vegetables: Corn, Mixed Veggies, Spinach, Green Peas, Tomatoes, Tomato Sauce.

Canned Fruits: Peaches, Fruit Cocktail, Orange Juice, Pineapple, Pears, Apple Juice, and Pineapple Juice.

Starches: Oatmeal, Rice, Macaroni and Cheese, Grits, Cold Cereal.
