Flooded Katy school to resume class at UH campus
The flood-damaged Creech Elementary in Katy ISD will have a new temporary home beginning Monday.

KATY, Texas (KTRK) -- Katy ISD officials said students at one elementary school damaged by Harvey flooding will resume classes at a University of Houston facility.

Creech Elementary took on several feet of flood water, and will be closed for the foreseeable future.

School district officials said they have reached an agreement with UH to bring Creech students to their Cinco Ranch satellite campus for the time being.

Portable buildings and playground equipment will be added to help make their students and staff feel more at home.

The University of Houston campus is located on South Mason Road, and is currently unoccupied.

"We're greatly appreciative of the University of Houston's ongoing support of Katy ISD and the community," Katy ISD Superintendent Lance Hindt. "We have been working on a tremendously short timeline over the past week, and the university has been extremely flexible in helping us to meet the needs of our students and families."

Schools reopen across Katy ISD on Monday, September 11.
