Stretch Your Dollar
Sixty percent of all homes are bought and sold in the summer!

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Sixty percent of all homes are bought and sold in the summer!

So if you plan to sell, you need to know how to stage your home like the pros.

You have the most competition this time of year than you will have at any time of year!

Lori Livers with 'Home Staging of Houston' says whether you're listing for $80,000 or $800,000, you should stage your home! Start with the exterior.

Over %90 of home shoppers view properties online before they decide if they even want to see it in person. You can not overlook the value of curb appeal.

So clean the home both inside and out, and keep the yard simple because that can turn off buyers too.

They don't want anything that doesn't look freshly cleaned and manicured.

That goes hand-in-hand with decluttering and depersonalizing your space.

Inside you can get rid of the old by replacing "dated" fixtures and finishes.

Finally, you know those "props" that stagers use, like a drink station or a basket set up for a spa day, believe or not Lori says it works!

"We use these things strategically in order to draw the buyers eye as they are touring the home so they really start to take notice of the positive aspects of the home."

And if nothing else, freshen up the house with some paint, especially if the walls are dark.

Consumer Reports says Home Depot's Behr premium plus ultra for $36 per gallon was top rated.
