Father killed, truck stolen
Police say four suspects shot and killed a father and husband in north Houston.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- "When I found out who it was and what happened, I was like, 'Oh, my God,'" said Monique Espre, neighbor and friend.

Espre was still in disbelief as she headed to work after finding out 35-year-old John Edwards had been shot and killed Wednesday night.

Relatives told Eyewitness News he was robbed right by the doorway.

"Somebody came in, knocked on the door, bum-rushed him, robbed him, killed him and took his truck," said a relative.

Houston police said about four men may have been involved, and they're now looking for the 2009 white Dodge Ram that was stolen. It's missing the tailgate and the license plate is FTP-7410.

"I heard two gunshots. I looked, and I saw four guys running. Came back again, heard two more shots," said a neighbor who saw the men in white t-shirts but has no idea who they could be.

"He was a loveable guy and anyone that knew him loved him," said Dee Riley, sister-in-law of the victim.

Edwards leaves behind his high school sweetheart and 12-year-old daughter. The couple had been together for more than 20 years.

Anyone with information is urged to call the homicide line at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers.
