ALVIN, TX (KTRK) -- Champions Kids Camp at Victory Camp in Alvin brings much-needed summer fun to some children who really need it.
About 170 children are camping out for the week. Some are cancer survivors, and others have lost parents to drugs or suicide. All the kids have a chance to let loose, have fun, make friends and forget the past.
Bill Nash started the camp 13 years ago to give back after his son survived leukemia. He wants to help 'survivor kids' as he calls them.
"At least there's a camp like this, we help rebuild their self image," Nash explained. "We help them get past what they'll never get over."
