Float Baby spa takes off in popularity
A Houston mom's idea is taking off nationwide

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- If you haven't heard of Float Baby, let's dive right in.

At the spa for babies, infants 2 weeks to 4 months old wear floaties around their necks and bob happily in big tubs of warm water. The visits are finished off with a therapeutic massage.

"He enjoys the water, the temperature is great and relaxing for him, he just seeps right into it," said Houston mom Carly Thibodeaux.

Float Baby is the brain child of River Oaks mother turned global business woman Kristi Ison. She opened the spa earlier this year and received a tidal wave of interest.

"A lot of press heard about us, it went to the national syndicates, people were picking it up," Ison said.

There was so much interest that she had to close down and create more space.

Now, hundreds of tiny clients are bobbing in three separate mini pools with sessions taking place six days a week. Ison receives calls from around the world from investors hoping to start their own Float Baby centers.

"It became global. I got phone calls from radio stations in Ireland, in Dubai, all over the world requesting information and franchises, and it's been an incredible response," Ison said.

Despite all the media attention, Ison insists this is not just a passing fad. Parents that bring their babies here swear by the therapeutic benefits.

"At 12 weeks, he's sleeping all the time or in our arms, this gives him the freedom to move around and kick. last time we were here, he was kicking off the wall, it was really cute. This is like his early Christmas present," Ison said.

Though still in its early stages, Ison says Baby's Future is bright

"We want to put together a team and take this globally," Ison said.
