Warning about using detergent pod container for halloween candy
Laundry and dish-washing detergent pods like these have caused problems when small children handle or ingest them.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Kids aren't the only ones excited about Halloween candy: some parents also enjoy the creative opportunities to decorate buckets and bags for their kids to use to go trick or treating.

But those do-it-yourself projects could lead to problems with leftover residues and chemicals, according to experts.

Specific phobias are distinguished by an intense and "irrational fear of something that poses little or no actual danger" and limited to a very specific thing or situation.

For example, Consumer Reports warns parents that empty detergent pod boxes are not good options to re-purpose for candy buckets. Some look like great options: bright orange containers with handles, but what could be left over is too much of a risk the organization said.

A study published in "Pediatrics" back in May found that exposure to pods resulted in two deaths more than a 100 child injuries.

Experts say stick to what you know and clean all containers before you let your children use them.
