'The Simpsons' headed for historic milestone

One of TV's most beloved and dysfunctional families is set to reach a new milestone.

Fox has renewed "The Simpsons" for its 29th and 30th seasons, at the end of which, will have more episodes than any other scripted TV show in history.

The comedian will meet Springfield's favorite yellow family in a new bit on tonight's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"

The current record holder is "Gunsmoke," with 635 episodes.

Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie will have 669.
