Sam Shepard dies at 73
Shepard is an actor and Pulitzer-winning playwright.

Sam Shepard, actor and playwright, dies at 73, family spokesman says.

Shepard received the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1979 for his play "Buried Child" and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role as pilot Chuck Yeager in "The Right Stuff."

Shepard died at his home in Kentucky surrounded by his family on July 27.
