Gabrielle Union reveals infertility struggle
Actress Gabrielle Union revealed in a People magazine interview that she has been struggling with infertility and miscarriages.

Gabrielle Union, star of the B.E.T.'s "Being Mary Jane," talked about her struggle with infertility, failed IVF cycles and several miscarriages in a recent issue of "People" magazine.

Union, who has been married to Cleveland Cavalier player Dwyane Wade since 2015, said in the interview that she had eight or nine miscarriages and had gone through eight cycles of IVF, none of which were successful.

"For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant. I've either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle or coming out of an IVF cycle," said Union, whose character on "Being Mary Jane" is a successful single TV journalist fighting her way to the top.

The actress is not giving up.

"Going through as many miscarriages and IVF treatments as Gabrielle has, has put her body and mind through a lot of turmoil, but she says she's not going to give up," said Patrick Gomez, a "People" magazine senior writer.

Union has two stepsons, Zaire and Zion, but confesses that although she is bursting with joy at all of her stepkids' milestones, she never wanted children until she met Wade.

"I was afraid to be attached to a man for life if our relationship didn't work out," she said in the "People" interview. "I was fulfilled raising children, a joy I never saw coming. Wanting to have babies with Dwayne was a natural desire built on that joy."

Despite her struggle, she continues to remain hopeful.

"This child we want to have had been loved even as an idea. Each attempt at IVF is a loving action. So we remain here, bursting with love and ready to do anything to meet the child we've both dreamed of," Union said.
