Children's Museum hosting Sensory Friendly Day for World Autism Month
HOUSTON (KTRK) -- April is World Autism Month and the Children's Museum of Houston is celebrating with an exclusive event.
Sensory Friendly Day takes place on April 3, and it's an opportunity for kids with autism spectrum disorders and sensory processing differences to explore the museum.
The event includes miniature therapy horses, Texas Children's Hospital experts and dance lessons from the Houston Ballet.
There will be no music, and sound-reducing headphones available.
The event is closed to the public, so pre-registration is required.
Admission is $5 per person.
Special Events:
- Therapy Horses: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Concrete Jungle
- Grant Manier's Eco Art: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Kid's Hall
- Houston Ballet's Creative Movement: 10 a.m. to noon in Power Play Alcove
- Harrison Music Therapy: 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m in Tree Top
- Success on the Spectrum: 10:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 1 p.m. at Parent Resource Library
- Texas Children's Hospital: All day
The Children's Museum of Houston is also joining thousands of landmarks and communities around the world by "lighting blue" to celebrate World Autism Month.
Museum visitors will receive $2 off admission if they wear blue on April 2 in support of people living with autism.
