Construction underway for much-needed school
Shadow Creek High School is being built at Broadway and Kirby

PEARLAND, TX (KTRK) -- A community-wide ground breaking took place Tuesday at the site where Shadow Creek High School is being built at the corner of Broadway and Kirby, in Pearland, for Alvin ISD.

"Having them to go to a quality school, close to home...Very special," said Pearland Mayor Tom Reid.

This 72 acre facility with more than 500,000 square-feet was made possible by several bonds starting in 2009. It will house 2,500 students when it opens, and be the third high school in the district. With the huge population growth in the area, it's also long overdue.

As for the students now in middle school who will grace the hallways of the school in 2016, they can't wait for this dream to come true.
