HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Houston ISD has just announced its plans for redistricting.

The first of four public meetings to discuss the draft plan for redrawing the boundaries of the nine districts used to elect Houston Independent School District trustees will be held at 6:30pm Tuesday at Shadydale Elementary, 5905 Tidwell.

HISD says it has to redraw its lines because it annexed North Forest ISD in 2013 and all trustee districts have to realigned so they can distribute the population evenly.

More meetings will be held at the following locations and times:

  • Pin Oak Middle School (4601 Glenmont, 77401) July 8 at 6:30
  • Hattie Mae White Educational Support Center (4400 West 18th Street, 77092) July 10 at 6:30
  • Austin High School (1700 Dumble St, 77023) July 15 at 6:30

The Board of Education is expected to adopt the final redistricting map in August.
