FORT BEND COUNTY (KTRK) -- You can never generate enough funds, right? At least that's the idea behind Fort Bend ISD's new advertising program.

FBISD's new program is designed to generate additional revenue for the school district. The program, in partnership with Steep Creek Media, will allow advertisements on buses and other FBISD facilities.

"Fort Bend ISD - like other public school districts across the state - is continuously dealing with budget challenges, making the creation of new revenue sources very important," said Steve Bassett, Fort Bend ISD's Chief Financial Officer.

According to the district, the program involves bus advertisements that can be purchased to target any route within the district.

Steep Creek Media will also secure advertising for many venues throughout the district, including sponsorships in athletic stadiums, banners and signage in gyms and athletic facilities, and the district website.

The district says all funds generated from the program will go toward FBISD's general fund budget. That budget is used to pay for teacher salaries, instructional materials and day-to-day operating expenses.
