Former Texas teacher arrested in solicitation case

GEORGETOWN, TX -- Federal authorities say a former Texas choir teacher has been arrested for allegedly texting nude photos of himself to a middle school student.

U.S. Marshal Robert Almonte says the 32-year-old man was arrested at his Georgetown home on Wednesday. He faces a charge of solicitation to commit sexual assault involving communications in 2007 and 2008 when he taught at Scott Johnson Middle School in McKinney.

Almonte says the investigation began in July after a former student told police the suspect texted him the pictures.

A Pflugerville school district spokeswoman says the suspect resigned this month as a choir teacher at Hendrickson High School.

He is being held at the Williamson County Jail on $35,000 bond.
