HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Missing clothes and no comment. That's what a Houston couple says happened to them after taking their clothes to the cleaners. But that's when Action 13 when to work.
Megan Hargrove says she and her boyfriend used MW Cleaners for years without a problem and then they moved.
"Went ahead and set up a whole new account online for us so we could schedule our pick ups online and track everything from there, and that's kind of where everything went wrong," Hargrove said.
Hargrove says instead of getting her cleaned clothes delivered to her new home by MW Cleaners, the outfits were nowhere to be found.
"So I emailed customers service on Friday and heard back Monday morning that the clothes were dropped off Friday," she said.
But Hargrove says no clothes ever arrived.
"At this point it becomes a search to find out what in the world happened," she said.
Hargrove says it took MW Cleaners four days to discover the company dropped the clothes off at their old address. She says $450 worth of clothes were gone and she wanted MW Cleaners to help her replace the items.
But after two months of trying, Hargrove says no one from the company could help. So she called us and after we reached out to MW Cleaners Hargrove got a call within 48 hours.
"He apologized and he offered to reimburse almost 100 percent of the clothes," Hargrove said.
MW Cleaners says the problem can be traced to a barcode on the garment bag.
"Our valets use scanned barcodes in order to match dry cleaning to a particular address. In this instance, although the address was manually updated, the electronic barcode was not. We at MW Cleaners need to remind our associates to educate our clients that when they move, they should inform their dry cleaner of the move," the company said in a prepared statement.
If your clothes are lost, the dry cleaner should reimburse you, but it probably will not be 100 percent or the purchase price because value is deducted based on how much you wore it. The best advice? Keep the receipts of your dry cleaning items, just in case.
