Site of future Heights HEB prepped for construction work

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Groundbreaking appears to be imminent at the site of the hotly anticipated HEB in the Heights.

Spying eyes have spotted fencing and construction trailers being moved onto the property at 2300 North Shepherd.

An official groundbreaking ceremony is set for Oct. 24.

The store was at the center of a polarizing 2016 referendum over the sale of alcohol on the premises, which was prohibited by a century-old ordinance. Voters chose to lift the ordinance, paving the way for the grocery store to sell alcohol.
