SEOUL, South Korea (KTRK) -- The Mayor of Seoul and the Mayor of Houston have met before. But this is the first time they have gathered in Seoul. Mayor Park Won-soon and Mayor Annise Parker genuinely seemed to enjoy speaking to each other today.

As a gesture of good will, Mayor Park bestowed upon Mayor Parker the title of honorary citizen of Seoul. Mayors Park and Parker, however, share more than just similarities in name. At a meeting inside Seoul's larger than life city hall, the two talked about the importance of growing business and commerce.

Increasing business is the main reason two dozen Houstonians have spent the past three days in South Korea. Greater Houston Partnership's Bob Harvey says attending meeting after meeting, ceremony after ceremony may seem tedious, but it's the best way to bring business dollars to Houston.

"In some respects you would think everyone already knows about Houston and all that it has to offer, but that's not the case," says Harvey. "We really have to take the message to the rest of the world and make the case of why Houston is a great place to live and invest and what have you. The only way to do that is get on a plane and sell the city."

After the group wraps up their work in South Korea, they are next headed to Japan. We will continue to cover this trade mission Eyewitness News.
