In the middle of Harvey, many depended on smart phones and social media to get information. What if that network went down?

Some companies made very concrete plans to make sure they kept on running because failure would have affected tens of thousands of Houstonians.

Along the Beltway, Cyrus One has a large facility where it supports the internet and wireless needs of companies big and small across greater Houston.

Their servers and data systems support everything from an app you may use to get the latest weather information to emergency responders performing rescues. The company brought in extra fuel, made sure their generators are up and running and with the help of employees who bunked at the office, kept everything running.

"Hospitals, emergency response systems, these are things we maintain every day, not just during a storm, so it's ever critical that we're prepared to help the responders prepare," said Caroline Brelsford of Cyrus One.

Luckily, this west Houston office complex never lost power. Even with the surrounding roads were flooded.
