Family paying for furniture they don't have
The Cinco Ranch family turned to Action 13

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A Cinco Ranch couple is paying for furniture they do not have. They picked out a house full of furniture and were told to expect it in four to six weeks, but four months later all they have to show for it is the monthly bill.

Amr Neamatalla has new queen sized mattress but the bed frame he and his wife bought to go with it is not in their home.

"We found a unique furniture that we really fell in love with but unfortunately it just didn't work out," said Neamatalla.

Neamatalla adds he bought a house full of furniture back in May had still has not received one piece of the order four months later.

But he is paying the bill.

"I made two months payment and I am required to make the third months payment," said Neamatalla.

The couple says they paid $1,200 from his debit card and that money has been returned by his bank. The other $7,000 was financed through Synchrony Bank. When Neamatalla contacted the company it sided with the merchant.

"Because the merchant has a policy of no cancellation, no return, no refund," said Neamatalla.

We contacted Synchrony and the company says it will take another look at the contract. Synchrony is a member of the Better Business Bureau.

We found it has more than 4,200 complaints, but the good news most of them are resolved.

"Looking at the BBB's public report it looks like there is a high likelihood of it getting resolved," said Monica Russo with Houston Better Business Bureau.

Russo says there are steps to take before buying furniture. Make certain you know the stores return policy, if there is one. Get everything in writing, including how long is too long to wait for items. And search the company's reviews online.

"Always read the fine print, even if that means not going home with the furniture that night," said Russo.

We contacted the furniture store, but were told the owner was not available today to speak with us. The finance company promised to get back with us as soon as they have reviewed the couples claim.
