Student stabbed during fight at Manvel High School

ALVIN, TX

According to Alvin ISD officials, at 11:15am, a senior at the school was involved in a fight with the freshman, and the younger student allegedly pulled out a pocket knife and cut the senior on the shoulder and the leg. The freshman was detained by the Alvin ISD Police Department, but it's not yet known what consequences he may face.

The injured student was treated on the scene by EMS. The district says the injuries appear to be minor. The student's parents arrived and transported him to receive additional medical care.

"This was in a hallway during a passing period, so there was a substantial number of students in the hall at that time," said Daniel Combs, Alvin ISD Director of Communications. "This took place at about 11:15, so there were students going to classes and also going to lunch."

Some other students witnessed the incident but were not hurt.

The district says there was an unrelated incident earlier in the day. A parent called with a concern that a student may bring a weapon to school. The school was locked down about ten minutes. That student was located and no weapon was found.
