A two-year-old boy is in the hospital, after he was bitten by a dog at his grandmother's home in Stafford.

The attack happened at about 1:30pm at a home on Old Crest at Flaxseed Way. Stafford police say the grandmother was babysitting her grandson and while they were playing, the mixed breed dog suddenly attacked the child.

The boy was taken to Hermann Hospital by air ambulance, due to severe injuries to his face. He was reportedly conscious and alert.

The City of Stafford Animal Control Officer took control of the dog and placed him in the animal control vehicle, at which time police say the dog died. The Animal Control Officer will have the dog's remains tested for the possibility of rabies.
