Lauren N. Sandefer, 25, who was fired in February, is now charged with bringing a prohibited item into a correctional facility. She was arrested on Monday.
Bail in her case has been set at $5,000.
Sandefer, who started working at the Harris County Sheriff's Office last year, is the third former Harris County Jail detention officer charged with a crime this year for delivering contraband to inmates.
